Alluding to the beauty of the figures, I do not intend to mean what is commonly believe: living beings, for example, or painted images. On the contrary, the word refers only in particular lines: the straight line, the curve, and likewise the surfaces and solids that result from the work of the lathe, or by means of regulating and of teams.
